Mike Degen was quoted in a recent Bloomberg Businessweek article about “re-shoring” – companies moving production back to America from overseas locations, such as China. Companies interviewed cited various reasons for this trend, including shorter supply chains, lower freight costs and better protection of intellectual property.
In the article, Degen said Nortech is seeing a greater movement toward regionalization, with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) sourcing from the region or country where they plan to sell the finished goods. Local sourcing by OEMs is more prevalent in Nortech’s area of specialization: low-volume/high-mix products featuring a high material content.
